Terminology

Waterfall DMAIC Agile PDCA can they work together?

I always employ PDCA(Plan do check act) in all that I do. I will fit in with Waterfall, Agile or mix, and raise appropriate risks and issue. I lean (pun intended) on DMAIC (Define Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) elements as and when required. There is Terminology and standards that you bring to a team and then there is the terminology and standards that are already there. Some roles, like Nursing, have terminology and standards that are nationally recognised.

In Project and Change various methodologies, frameworks, expereience and cultures come together. People can use different words to mean the same thing or same word to mean different things. Terms are used interchangeably, which can cause confusion on intended use and who the audience is. It is important to align terminology within the team. Glossary is often used to support alignment, but too often it is not maintained or used and people tend to learn on the job.
