Discovery
Where does one start?

How often have you faced an opportunity but felt unsure where to begin—overwhelmed, hesitant, or just guessing your way through? Leaders and managers provide a starting point, do you run with it straight away, where do you go next ? Why do some people get chosen to engage earlier in projects? How many decisions have you questioned or felt you were engaged too late? Individuals have to ask pertinent questions to their role to look at what to do next. Does Discovery apply to every role? Where Discovery does apply, it has to start somewhere and takes time, effort, patience and creativity.
Discovery is a recognisable phase with tools in Lean Six Sigma. In Agile Proof of Concept or a Spike represent exploring an unknown. With someone tasked with discovery what level of detail do you go into? Once you have the detail then what? Staff are encouraged to drive continuous improvements, discovery plays a role. Enabling staff to understand the role of discovery, tools to support discovery and what to do with the discovery, could put continuous improvement on turbo charge.
